Louis D. Brown Peace Institute to lead the 21st Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace
        “In Unity There is Healing!”

WHAT:    Boston, MA - On Sunday May 14, residents from across the Commonwealth will walk from Town Field in Dorchester to Boston City Hall for the 21st Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace. What began as a neighborhood walk to support mothers of murdered children has become a time-honored tradition for people of diverse backgrounds to celebrate our potential to create more peaceful communities. The Walk is also a fundraising effort to sustain the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute’s critical services for families impacted by murder and training for public health professionals across the state.

Honorary Chairs Governor Charlie Baker and First Lady Lauren Baker and official Co-Chairs of the Walk Mayor Marty Walsh, Senator Linda Dorcena Forry, and Alden Landry, MD of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will join more than 15,000 people walking 6.8 miles from Dorchester to City Hall. The Mother’s Day Walk for Peace will conclude with a rally and flag raising ceremony at City Hall Plaza.

“This year we are walking to demand dignity and compassion for all families impacted by murder. Homicide is an issue that affects all of us. The Mother’s Day Walk is an expression of unity and an opportunity to invest in peace,” said Tina Chery, President and CEO of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute.
