In 2016, my dear friend's son was killed by a stray bullet while simply sitting in his car in their driveway. She carries this unimaginable loss every day. I am walking in honor of her and her family, and in support of all families who have experienced the deep pain of losing a loved one to violence.
The MDW4P was founded in 1996 by Chaplain Clementina Chéry, President and CEO of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, after the tragic loss of her teenage son. She turned her grief into purpose, creating a space for mothers of murdered children to receive support, love, and strength from their communities. The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute works to break cycles of violence and promote healing through survivor empowerment, youth investment, and community support. Every step taken and every dollar raised brings us closer to a more peaceful future.
💛 Please consider supporting my walk by making a donation toward my personal fundraising goal. Your contribution will directly support the important work of the Peace Institute and help lift up families affected by trauma, grief, and loss. Let’s walk together — for peace, for justice, and for love. mothersdaywalk4peace.org/Member/MyPage/8026269/Beverly-Doughty With gratitude, Beverly Doughty
