I am participating in the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. This organization supports mothers and families who have lost loved ones to community violence. I have been involved with this organization for a few years, and I am inspired by Chaplain Clementia M. Chery’s dedication to her son and her vision for peace in the Boston community.

After attending my first training, I enrolled in additional training and became a Peace Play Facilitator. I've conducted Peace Play sessions in Charlestown during community events, with clients, and with my friends and family. As a Clinical Social Worker, I see this intervention as a valuable tool that helps people process their emotions when they may struggle to find the words to express what they are feeling. It has proven to be an effective healing method.

The Peace Institute trained our entire Charlestown Coalition team and provided Peace Play kits for us to distribute to residents and organizations in Charlestown. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and the work they do in neighborhoods throughout Boston.
